How to Get Viral Traffic to Your Blog

How to Get Viral Traffic to Your Blog

It all starts with the“Perfect Pin.”Interest is very different than Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

It took a few months of trial and error, but  finally realized I needed a marketing plan specific to Pinterest and its unique set of users.

Pinterest users have a different psychology when pinning than
when they are posting on the other social media platforms. You have to tell your story differently than you would on Facebook or Twitter.

In my first experiments I set out to design pins that would generate the most interest, and we focused on how to push/promote it across the Pinterest landscape to drive massive amounts of traffic back to
our target websites.

Pinterest

Is the top converting social media site, with 50% higher conversion rates

Drives more traffic to your website
Has more than 2.5 billion page views a month
Has 70 million users and is gaining international
momentum

In 2013, studies showed that Pinterest interest Marketing” has become something of a buzzword in the industry.

The Perfect, Traffic-Driving Pin

There had to be some kind of theory or technique behind the perfect pin—something that made one pin a total success, while another would be lost minutes after hitting the boards.

My strategy

Meaning: you can use these secrets yourself to help your pins stand out in the Pinterest feed, get tons of repins, and send thousands of new visitors to your site.

Only things that are “remarkable”  in some way
will be spread to others.

Do you think your pins are falling into this category?

There are two main takeaways from this concept:

First, present the content of your pin as a Hot pink aligator. Make it
something that people don’t see every day—something that makes
them stop and say: “Look at that! I must tell all my friends!”

Don’t let fear stop you from posting things that are only mostly
unique. Your goal should be to make content that is remarkable.
This may seem like one of the hardest elements to master when you’re working on creating the perfect pin, but it is extremely important.

Try this experiment for yourself: open up any category on Pinterest
and note which image you find most interesting without scrolling
down at all. Ask yourself why this image piqued your interest. Was it because it was something you had never seen before?

People pin things to their boards for a couple of reasons:
They want their followers/friends to see the awesome thing
they discovered.

They want to remember/buy/do what they see in there later, so
they pin it on their own board as a method of filing it away.

Whatever their reason, your goal is to create the kinds of pins they
will want to share on their own boards so their followers will have a
chance to see it too.

Now you may be asking, “That’s great and all, but people pinning my images does me no good. How do I get them to my site?”

Mystery is an important part of The Perfect Pin Formula because
your goal is to do more than increase the number of repins. You want people to engage with your pins and actually click on your content.

Put some mystery in your image instead of revealing everything. You need to encourage people to click through to your site if they want to find out more. There are a few ways you can accomplish this with certain types of content.

Of course, getting involved with a useful and valuable board will
require some planning and effort. In general, there are three
different ways to get involved.

There are people and agencies with Pinterest accounts that are on
several group boards. If you work with them they can help by either
getting you an invite to the boards they’re on or they can simply pin
your content to their group boards.

Get invites from the group board owners
Start your own group board(s)

This can be an involved process that requires a lot of effort to contact and build relationships with board owners. It starts with you following the board you want to join and doesn't end until you can show the owner that you have something of value to offer.

There is one other way to identify a group board.
On the account profile page, where their entire list of boards is presented (http://www.pinterest.com/username/), there is an icon that appears next to the board’s name that shows you it is a group board.

It is a simple image of three heads clustered together:

Where can You Find Group Boards?

group boards can be hard to find. It’s even harder to find boards
that consistently host quality content and are relevant to your
industry. Pinterest simply doesn’t have a way to let you search
for specific group boards. You can relax though, because once you do
find them, your work will get a lot easier.

Simply scan the board profile page and spot the icons on the different
boards, like so:
group board icon

Method 1: Manually (we still use this method)
1.
Look for pinners in your industry/category with tens of
thousands of followers.
2.
Once you have a list of potentials, look through their
boards page and see if any of them are relevant to your
content and have the group board icon.
3.
Record the board’s name and URL so you can come back
later and request an invite.
4.
Click on the +[number] icon next to the seven
contributor profile images to see the complete list of
contributors.
5.
Open each contributor’s profile and see if they are
members of any other group boards. (People who
are already a contributor on one group board often
contribute to several more.)
6.
Record any group boards you find and then look into the
contributor profiles in the new group boards you found.

Here is 1 of my many group boards that I created

SCIENCE

Also search Pinterest by keyword for me jmhhacker. Results are thousands of pins sourcing back to jmhhacker

As you can see I am shown results and can see which pins did well.

Use Board Deck (this is a free directory)

Go to

http://boarddeckhq.com and sign up for free. Board Deck
is simply a directory of Pinterest group boards by category that
you can sort through quickly.

Are there 1,000 or more pins on the board?
(This shows that the contributors are actively pinning.)

Are there more than 30 contributors on the board?
(This gives you an idea of your chances of getting an invite.)

Are the pins on the board being repinned 10+ times each?
(This tells you that the followers of the board are active.)

Getting an Invite to Contribute to a Group Board

Once you have built a list of possible boards, it’s time to request
invites to become a contributor. There’s a simple and effective
way to go about it, and it involves respecting the board’s creator
and showing that you can offer something very valuable.

With that in mind, be sure you read the board description before you
send any requests. This is where the owners will often explain how
they would like to receive requests.

Remember that you have to become a follower of the board first and the owner has to follow at least one of your boards, or they can’t add you as a contributor. Of course, following them is important, because it is a good way to show you are truly interested in what they’re already offering.

Using these methods here a a couple examples

These 3 pins below brought in over 25,000 views to my blog.

Here is the original blog POST
That led to 20,000 views from 1 pin.
See the power now?

What are your pinterest methods? Have they worked?

How to convert social media into sales.

How To Convert Social Media into Sales.

Justin Matthew
9/23/2013

Well based on my last article I did another. It feels good to write again. I will do more on other networks with evidence and results perhaps every week. It seems as if many people I
talk to have an issue of showing direct sales from social.

My problem is trying to keep up.

Look I have been in this social media game a short period of time. 18 months. In that time I went from viral fiverr super seller (over 300 orders a week) to managing a social media firm that is growing by the second. HOW?  Luck?  Hard work?  Well luck has nothing to do with it.

I found out quickly as I found myself reading social media articles from experts that I was already well advanced past what they were recommending. I  even hired a firm for 3 grand because they put up a good front. The results were what I was doing on my own in a week.

So I came to the conclusion after selling 16,000 gigs on one fiverr account and 5,000 on another that I actually had a skill you can't teach it was just there. Now did I put in 15 to 18hrs a day for the last 18 months? Yes.

I have so many systems, networks, tools, apps I could not begin to tell you. Oh and believe me for those of you that think this is easy you wouldn't last 1 day no offense.

From Brand Yourself to Aboutme Viral tag to statigram. Tweet adder to Tweepi Circlecount to circleshares.

Tumblr, Pinterest, Blog, Facebook, Gplus, Gplus business, Youtube, Instagram, Linkedin, Communiteies, Reddit, Stumbleupon.

That is just a small piece of the machine. Empire Avenue any automation tools watermarking applications all just pieces to the system.

The point is everyone has a method everyone has a system that is THE BEST! What I see is a bunch of people that have no idea what they are doing. Or who is to say who is wrong or who is right?

I personally like to show results not hypothetical situations . Why say that? Well because I can Google social media methods or Gplus for business (just examples) and I will get 50 articles on the subject all from "experts" that contradict each other.

So I decided to go my own way about 2 months into this business. Did it work? Well if working for yourself and founding a company in social media is success then yes it did.

What makes the difference? Perhaps it is the extra time I take personally to respond to a question on an instagram photo. Maybe that one extra tweet of an example the possible customer asked for. Or the extra effort I put in to everything I do. WHO KNOWS!? I do know 1 thing every network on social media can be a MASSIVE weapon for you your your client.

Some better then others. Did you know on instagram (just a small example) for the industry of electronic cigarettes to build a targeted audience you look up photos by hash tag and like or engage them. Well What hash tag comes to mind first for you? e cigarettes? ecigs?

Well yes sure they have photo but what if I said vapelife or vapeporn had 8 times as many!

So what may seem obvious never is. Targeted those terms alone has resulted in multiple orders and attention for the product.

Now using gplus as I said have been from the start but people are paying attention now. Anyone can post a stunning photo and have it do well. I can post a photo at will and hit the what's hot page that is no skill.

The real test of skill is what if your client sells carpet? Or tables? Maybe hair dye? How well will that post do? Ya you guessed it flat line.

That is of course unless you target those users on gplus specifically. How? Look up any relevant communities and join them then add them to your circles 1 by 1 if need be then search for circle shares on that topic.

Slowly adding them all to your network. Or search in gplus for a keyword that fits the product. Like I said if it was easy everyone would be doing it. Last night I spent 5 hours targeting and adding relevant followers 1 by 1 but when I was done we had 222 new targeted followers.

Anyway target your audience post relevant images of the clients products this done daily really adds up BIGTIME some may get 4,000 views others 80,000 and maybe just maybe you hit the 500,000 once again not talking about posting a Quote or STUNNING image in China.

I am talking about for a product or service and from that companies page! What I love about gplus is the traffic is there for all to see and the ripples you either get it or you don't.

The photos you have seen are ALL direct purchases from those posts or tweets and just a few.

Engagement you say? Social media? How about over 100 buying questions a day and a 80 percent close ratio. Small example below.

SO gplus can't get traffic huh? Your social media guy told you don't worry about gplus it is a waste of time? Well fire him we average 21,000 views per post. Oh what is the CTR? I tracked it with google url shortner 17percent average.

SO...Social Media it has no SEO value. Is that right?
Number 1 you get organic search results for all
the networks set up like instagram, twitter, pinterest, tumblr,
rebelmouse, facebook, linkedin, blogger, flickr, youtube must I
go on?

e liquids (photo above) over 40 million results and what many consider
the most coveted term in this business 7's ranks 4th
1st page yes that is right.
HOW? I could tell you but then I would have to charge you
A LOT.

A small article I wrote 10 days ago type in Viral traffic using gplus
https://plus.google.com/102414185877312867976/posts/P92kVq4HtQw

OK almost 26,000
2 YouTube videos with the power of Google plus connecting youtube comments to name 1 this video off 1 good share received 8,000 views.

Oh what do I know I am just a guy playing with social media.

How To Get Viral Traffic Using Gplus

How to get Viral Traffic Using GPLUS

By Justin Matthew
9/20/2013
UPDATE in the last 15 hrs since this was written the post below almost doubled in traffic.

One of my favorite methods or strategies whatever you want to call it has been posting a great photo on google+ then adding in the caption and url of my choice.
I have been doing this ever since I joined and I have mentioned it 100 times. That being said WHY?
Upload an image and place the link in the description.
Now if the post is big it may get 1800 plus 1's 400 shares 300 comments etc. I get posts with over 200,000 views. I have others with 300,000 even 400,000.
So what is the point of all that if it is not doing anything for you or your website?
Well I manage many clients and found creative ways to make it count. The CTR varies 10 percent to 20 percent always in that range which is just fine by me. 10% of 250,000 is 25,000 hits to the site. Out of 25,000 think maybe there may be a buyer in there? Or 2 or 40?

So this post for example done today so far let's say 16,500 views it is a photo of the product I am trying to get interest to. I didn't use a photo of a beautiful river and slide in a link that made no sense.

Well we know minimum CTR is 10% ideally 20% so lets say 15% that is 2500 hits to the desired site in the caption. Now does that mean 2500 people bought? NO!! Does it mean maybe 10 people did? Sure!! Does it mean 10 more may come back later YES!

Now I can do this all day this is just 1 post for 1 client on 1 day.

Now this post I did yesterday.
Over 205,000 views. I could have easily threw that image up on a blog post or pin and put a url in there but I really didn't care.
The fact is I got 205,000 views on 1 post. I would be amazed but that happens a few times a week. More importantly I do this for clients on a post that is relevant.

Is this a magic answer to everything NO but I will say this having an extra 2000 to 15000 hits a day come in to a desired website certainly doesn't hurt. Now could I have popped in any url in the post above?
Yes I could have. Let's say I put up a travel company client. Well the sites gets 30,000 hits from the post. Do you think out of 30,000 we have some sales?

I would say yes we do. The point is once you have earned power you must respect power. I hope this helps some of you once again nothing new to me or anyone that knows me been doing this since I joined gplus.

As I said updated stats on post from 16,000 to 25,000 views.
